Our trip to Monterrey began on Saturday. My mother was nice enough to fly up to Denver from Show Low, AZ to watch our three girls while Heather, David, and myself went on our trip to Monterrey. The first half of our week long trip we are doing with just the three of us...exploring Monterrey and the surrounding areas. The latter half of the trips we are meeting up with some friends from the American Canyoneering Association (http://canyoneering.net) for a Mexico Rendezvous! We are super excited!
Saturday was an uneventful day. We flew from Denver to Atlanta, waited there for FIVE HOURS, then were on our way to Monterrey. Total flight time was about 5 or 6 hours. When we arrived in Monterrey we had to go through customs. I was wondering what the customs officials would do when x-raying our checked bags filled with carabiners, ropes, and even a couple of knives. To our pleasure, we went through customs with no problems.
We caught a cab that took us to our hotel in downtown Monterrey - the Holiday Inn. Definitely not a glamorous hotel but for $65 USD I can't complain. The room is small with two double beds (not very comfortable) and what I believe is Hawaiian Punch on the wall....or at least I hope it is Hawaiian Punch! Probably should have paid the extra $30 a night to have a nicer hotel.

This is David by the way.... I do NOT tilt or cock my head in any way or direction!!!!!!!!!! and I wasn't going to eat a baby goat even if the head wasn't there....
Great pictures. It sounds like quite an adventure! It looks like you've been safe so far. Keep it up!
No new baby yet up here...should be any day, though.
We send our love.
